THE UNITED ARAB EMIRATES AIRLINE HAS ANNOUNCED THE UPCOMING RELEASE OF ITS FIRST NFT COLLECTION!
Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, has announced the upcoming release of ‘EY-ZERO1’, the airline’s first non-fungible token (NFT) collection.
The utility-focused series includes ten highly detailed 3D aircraft models, each with its own Etihad Airways Boeing 787 Dreamliner livery. In addition, a total of 2003 limited-edition collectibles, representing the year Etihad Airways was founded, will go on sale on July 21 at 6 p.m. UAE time. Etihad’s Manchester City FC and Greenline-themed aircraft are among the collectibles.
The CEO, Tony Douglas, said they’re thrilled to introduce the company’s first NFT collection. Which will provide collectors with a one-of-a-kind work of art and real-world travel benefits within the company.
Purchasing an NFT entitles owners to immediate Etihad Guest Silver tier membership for a year, with 10 lucky NFT holders winning free Etihad flight tickets. NFT owners will also have access to upcoming NFT collections and future metaverse products planned by the airline as part of its Web3 strategy.
To commemorate the new collection launch, Etihad will give away 20 NFTs to people who pre-register on etihad.com/zero1 by July 16. Each NFT will cost US$349 plus tax on etihad.arcube.io, and the sale will end on August 18.
The NFTs will also be available via the Etihad Guest Reward Shop, allowing the airline’s loyalty program members to use their Miles to purchase an NFT.
EY-ZERO1 will be minted on the energy-efficient Polygon blockchain, and Etihad Airways will collaborate with Aerial. It is to track the NFTs’ CO2 emissions. In addition to offsetting the entire carbon footprint of the project, all proceeds from the collection will be used to purchase sustainable aviation fuel in 2022.
