The CEO of celebrity voicemail service Cameo, Steven Galanis, has been hacked. On Saturday, Galanis reported that his Apple ID had been hacked up, resulting in the theft of several valuable blockchain-based assets.
Several NFTs stolen from Cameo CEO account!
Among them was Bored Ape number 9012, purchased by Galanis in January for around $320,000, according to Variety. The thief sold Ape 9012 for 77 Ethereum, or approximately $130,000. That’s less than half of what Galanis paid for it, which can be attributed to the cryptocurrency crash.
Galanis also lost over 9,000 in $APE, Bored Ape’s cryptocurrency, with a total value of $69,000 at the time of writing. Three Otherside metaverse plots, one Phanta Bear, and two 11 Captain’s Club tokens were also stolen.
Galanis requested that the NFT marketplace OpenSea lock his account and stop trading the stolen NFTs, which the system did on Monday. Finding the thief is relatively easy because the blockchain records every transaction. It is much more challenging to connect the hacker to a real-life individual, though.
