Tomonobu Itagaki, a Japanese game creator best known for the Dead or Alive series and the Ninja Gaiden games revived by Tecmo, has announced the launch of his new firm, Apex Game Studios. This company is ‘incubating’ Warrior, an NFT-focused MMORPG for mobile and PC.
Itagaki announced Apex Game Studios on Twitter, claiming that the studio would focus on developing triple-A “Web3” games that were “high-quality and immersive” (Web 3.0 is an umbrella phrase that frequently includes contentious technologies like blockchain and NFT).
Warrior, the first game from Apex Game Studios, is an Unreal Engine-powered MMORPG that will be on sale in the first quarter of 2019. Unfortunately, information is still very few at this point, with the official website’s primary focus on describing the NFT economy at the heart of Warrior.
A trading system will allow players to trade almost all assets via Warrior Diamond Tokens. Competition, battle, and exploration of over 100 different monster types (referred to as Mob Servants) that can be summoned to assist in combat. Randomly generated gear, a unique talent system gems that allow players to fully experience the exciting process of polishing rough gemstones into boutique ones. Crafting and cosmetics are also mentioned.
Itagaki published a press release as part of the announcement that stated Apex Game Studios is interested in creating games based on the Metaverse in addition to blockchain and NFTs.
