A survey conducted by PlayStation at EVO 2022 asked players their thoughts and opinions on non-fungible tokens (NFTs). A Twitter (NYSE:TWTR) user shared a screenshot of one of the ‘PlayStation Quest’ questions. Evo is an annual esports tournament that focuses solely on fighting games. Sony (NYSE:SONY) agreed to become a co-owner of the prestigious event in 2021.

NFTs have not been welcomed with open arms into the video game community, and leading companies such as Valve and Electronic Arts (NASDAQ:EA) have sworn off them entirely. Square Enix and Ubisoft, on the other hand, decided to take a chance and dive headfirst into NFTs.
Until now, PlayStation has remained neutral, making no decisions on either side. While the purpose of the PlayStation survey is unknown, many speculate that the company is considering token daliance. According to online discussions, the NFT survey may have something to do with ‘PlayStation Stars.’
Although the exact purpose of the PlayStation survey is unknown, it may indicate discussions about the subject. PlayStation could be gauging user interest in digital collectibles and/or NFTs, but nothing is certain at this time.
While it’s too early to say anything definitive, the questionnaire suggests that video game companies are increasingly interested in testing the NFT waters, or at least researching alternative monetization methods.
