The global rap icons will perform “From the D 2 the LBC,” their latest collaborative single, live on the Otherside metaverse. The Bored Ape-inspired single is the two artists’ first collaboration in 20 years and will be presented in the ‘Best Hip Hop’ category.
Eminem and Snoop Dogg hold BAYC NFTs. Snoop Dogg recently released the single EDM, which features Esther Anaya in an animated video with Bored Apes and other NFTs. This Sunday, the global rap icons plan to give the Web 3 infrastructure mainstream exposure through their live metaverse performance at the VMAs.
Surprisingly, the VMAs team has added a new category to its annual awards called “the Best Metaverse Performance.” Creating a new metaverse category indicates that the metaverse deserves more attention. Other VMA nominees include Justin Bieber, the Rift Tour (featuring Ariana Grande), and Twenty-One Pilots.
The VMAs anticipate that the much-anticipated metaverse live event will increase viewership for its flagship show. In 2011, the VMA reached an all-time high of 12.4 million viewers. However, since then, the number of viewers has steadily declined. The 900,000 viewers currently tuning in live to watch the awards on MTV represent a drop in viewership for the eighth year in a row.
Overview of the Otherside Metaverse
The Otherside is a gamified interoperable metaverse venture currently in beta launch. In addition, the virtual world provides “Otherdeed NFTs,” which represent digital ownership of land plots in the metaverse.
